Project Heather
- IKEA
When it comes to designing a contemporary kitchen, the options are endless. But for one recent client, a turquoise color scheme was the perfect choice for their new IKEA kitchen. Turquoise is a bold and vibrant color that can add a touch of energy and fun to any space. And when paired with sleek, modern design elements, it creates a unique and memorable look that is sure to impress.
For this particular kitchen located right across Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach, we chose to use a mix of matte turquoise cabinetry and white marble-looking countertops to create a striking contrast. The clean lines and minimalistic design of the IKEA cabinets added to the contemporary feel of the space, while the turquoise color brought a touch of personality and playfulness. To complement the bold color scheme, we opted for stainless steel appliances and matte black hardware. These finishes add a touch of sophistication to the space while also tying in with the modern feel of the cabinets. In terms of functionality, we made sure to incorporate plenty of storage options and workspace into the design. The large peninsula features ample storage space, as well as plenty of counter space for food preparation. The cabinets above the countertop provide even more storage options, while the sleek appliances offer an unobstructed view of the backsplash.

The white high-gloss finish of the cabinetry contrasts beautifully with the stainless steel appliances and the green hexagon tile backsplash, adding a touch of color and texture to the space.
Project Light House
- IKEA
Two-tone kitchen cabinets have been proving to be quite desired lately. Many customers experiment with darker color base cabinets and lighter color wall cabinets, or a different color island, but in this case the customer wanted more integration between the IKEA VOXTORP wall nut effect and matt white.
The base cabinets and the refrigerator cabinet with the pantry are all VOXTORP walnut effect, while the island is entirely made of VOXTORP matt white. The wall cabinets on both sides of the range hood however, have this contrast look of walnut effect cover panels and top and bottom molding and white doors. The left and right symmetry makes this kitchen even more pleasing to the eye. The natural wood-look LVP floor is a great choice to complement the design, the counter tops are white with minimal veining so that it does not clash with the busy, yet intense backsplash. As always: having a great design and ideas is just the first step. Professional installation is just as important to have a stunning kitchen like this one.
Project Clear Springs
- IKEA
This kitchen, located in Chesapeake right next to Greenbrier Mall, was totally transformed and brought to the next level. We used IKEA`s Lerhyttan gray materials to create this fully custom kitchen with a sink cabinet at a 45-degrees angle. Adding glass cabinets on the walls makes the kitchen space to look even bigger and more appealing.

- Swedish Door
SWEDISH KITCHNES designed, assembled and installed this astonishing kitchen in a condo located in Norfolk, near Waterside Drive and USS Wisconsin. The kitchen has an open concept and it is executed with IKEA frames and custom doors and drawers fronts from our trusted partner Swedish Door.
The base cabinets, the pantry, the refrigerator cabinet and the island are finished in real wood Walnut veneer with vertical grain and sequential matching. The wall cabinets are also Swedish Door`s material Tess, which has white thermofoil cover.
The combination of wood colors and bright white creates this beautiful, modern looking kitchen, yet it feels warm and timeless. The blue diamond shaped tiles, arranged in hexagons, are bold and also highlight the contemporary style of the kitchen with long handles and clean lines. White quartz, new appliances, undermount stainless steel farm sink and LED lights under the wall cabinets add the final touches to have this stunning kitchen space.
The entire process from design to the very last tile was executed and coordinated by Swedish Kitchens!
Project Raynor
- IKEA & Swedish Door
IKEA kitchen Project Raynor on Instagram A true example of how an IKEA kitchen can look and feel like a custom-built kitchen. The owners of this house, nested in the Glenwood Seasons neighborhood of Virginia Beach were BIG IKEA fans, but they wanted to achieve an unique feel of their new kitchen. They have decided that they want to do a two tone kitchen, in white and light gray.
Unfortunately IKEA doesn`t offer their "shaker" style material GRIMSLÖV in gray, that is why the team at Swedish Kitchens decided to custom order the GRIMSLÖV drawer fronts and cover panels in gray from one of our business partners Swedish Door. Swedish Door can manufacture any material that IKEA has in a color that you like (you basically pick any color that you want, you provide the code for it).

Project Fieldstone Glen
- IKEA
This contemporary townhouse in Virginia Beach is conveniently located near the Oceana Naval Base and just a short distance from Sandbridge. Its modern kitchen perfectly complements its high ceilings with IKEA’s KUNGSBACKA cabinets, featuring STROMLINJE LED lights and bold Grey Mist Granite countertops. To match the sleek IKEA doors, the underside of the wall cabinets is finished with anthracite black cover panels.
Even the crown molding on the cabinets matches the doors, adding to the overall cohesive look. The kitchen boasts a large bar area, classic white subway tiles with grey grout, a convenient undermount stainless steel sink, and a slide-in range oven with extended glass tops on both sides to prevent spills between the stove and cabinets. A granite bridge behind the range oven adds a touch of elegance.
Project Waterspoint
- IKEA
Swedish Kitchens fully transformed this condo located on Shore Drive in Virginia Beach. We were responsible also for the bathroom vanities that we matched with the same materials as the kitchen VOXTORP Walnut. The customer requested a contemporary LED lighting under the cabinets, so we decided you use IKEA`s IRSTA lights.
We also installed a shiplap on the back of the island and we added an additional lightning under the bar area. This was our 3rd kitchen for these clients and we can`t wait to see what their next adventure would be.
